CAN Rejects CAMA, Accuses FG of Declaring War on Christians

Published

on

The leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has rejected the Companies and Allied Matters Act, 2020 signed into law by President Muhammadu Buhari recently.

CAN urged President Muhammadu Buhari to urgently return the law to the National Assembly for immediate amendment.

It said the law which by implication has repealed the Companies and Allied Matters Act, 1990 (1) was assented to despite its rejection at the Public Hearing stage.

In a statement issued on Thursday by the Special Assistant, (Media & Communications) to the CAN President, Pastor Adebayo Oladeji, the Christian body said that if the federal government insist on retaining the legislation, it would be seen as a declaration of war on Christianity and the agenda to destroy the Church.

“The law, to say the least is unacceptable, ungodly, reprehensible and an ill-wind that blows no one any good. It is a time bomb waiting to explode,” it said.

CAN said that during the first term of the President, there was a Public Hearing conducted by the National Assembly on the “Non- Governmental Organisations Bill tagged ‘Bill for an Act To Provide For The Establishment Of The Non-Governmental Organizations Regulatory Commission For The Supervision, Co-ordination And Monitoring Of Non Governmental Organizations’ which was attended by CAN and many NGOs.

It said that at the Public Hearing, the Bill that sought to bring the religious organizations and NGOs under the control and influence of the government was totally rejected because it would snuff life out of the church.

“We thought it was all over until we heard of the CAMA that was assented to by the President, making the rejected bill a law.

“The satanic section of the controversial and ungodly law is Section 839 (1) &(2) which empowers the Commission to suspend trustees of an association (in this case, the church) and appoint the interim managers to manage the affairs of the association for some given reasons.
“While we are not against the government fighting corruption wherever it may be found, yet we completely reject the idea of bringing the Church, which is technically grouped among the NGOs, under control of the government. The Church cannot be controlled by the government because of its spiritual responsibilities and obligations. “This is why we are calling on the Federal government to stop the implementation of the obnoxious and ungodly law until the religious institutions are exempted from it. CAN urged President Muhammadu Buhari to urgently return the law to the National Assembly for immediate amendment. Nigeria should not be compared with any other nation when it comes to the relationship between the religious institutions and the government. In Nigeria, people’s religions are tied to their humanity and of course, their life.

“How can the government sack the trustee of a church which it contributed no dime to establish? “How can a secular and political minister be the final authority on the affairs and management of another institution which is not political? CAN queried.

For instance, CAN wondered how a non-Christian head of Government Ministry be the one to determine the running of the church, adding that such powers is an invitation to trouble that the government does not have power to manage.

It said that government lacks the technical expertise to run the church of God because of its spiritual nature.

“If the government is bent on imposing a law on us which the entire Church in Nigeria is against, then, they have declared war on Christianity and the agenda to destroy the Church which we have spoken against before now is coming to the open more clearly.

” If you cannot give us good amenities of life, we would not allow you to take away our liberty to worship our Maker.

“What good thing again will you not take away from the people in the name of being in power? Are we not running a democracy which is a government of the people by the people and for the people? Is this not gradually becoming a dictatorship or what was the essence of the Public Hearing you called us to when you had made up your mind not to consider the position of Christians at all which we presented during the Public Hearing?

“We call on all well meaning Nigerians to ask the Federal Government to suspend the law because we do not need it in this nation,” CAN stated.

#EndSARS: ‘Wickedness of the Wicked Shall Consume the Wicked’

Published

The Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries is deeply saddened by the unwarranted, unnecessary, callous, barbaric and inhuman use of live bullets by the security forces on Nigerian youths in Lagos, who were on peaceful protests to register their grievances with regards to violation of their fundamental human rights by the security agents.
It is indeed a Black Tuesday in the annals of Lagos and Nigeria. This is least expected in this century. While youths all over the world are contributing their own quota to good governance, the security forces are shooting their own in cold blood, devoid of human feelings and empathy.
Biblical principles of the Almighty God, says that the wickedness of the wicked, will consume the wicked. Those who shed innocent blood, their own blood will certainly be shed.
Let it be known that whatever is done under the cover of darkness with the belief that nobody sees it, will surely be brought to light and God the Ultimate Judge, will definitely judge speedily.
For it is written in Psalm 10.18 “You will hear the cries of the oppressed and the orphans; you will judge in their favor, so that mortal men may cause terror no more”.
Our hearts and prayers go to the Nigerian youths and all others negatively affected by this unfortunate and avoidable situation. We pray that God Almighty will minister peace and comfort to their hearts.
We also commiserate with the parents and guardians of the victims of this extreme show of force ,lack of empathy and lack of brotherly love, from those that committed this dastardly act.
To the Nigerian government, we will like to advise that going forward, utmost care and caution, coupled with divine wisdom, should be employed in bringing a lasting solution to the problem at hand.
Nigeria is all we have as Nigerians.
LET THE PEACE OF GOD REIGN SUPREME IN NIGERIA IN JESUS’ MIGHTY NAME. AMEN.

The President of the Republic of South Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit, has expressed his country’s gratitude to the General Overseer and the Founder of Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN), Prophet T.B Joshua, for helping to resolve the country’s civil war.
In a letter of invitation to Prophet T. B Joshua, President Mayadrdit said: “With due respect and honour, I am privileged to write to your highly prophetic esteemed office in reference to the above-mentioned subject.”
The president said the protracted civil war in the country which had defied international intervention was resolved due to the prophet’s intercession.
He added: “First, I would like to thank you, humble servant of the Most High God and the highest grace and anointing upon your life, and for your love and humility for coming on your prophetic and historic visit on November 12, 2019, when the nation was in a desperate situation, whereby the country was experiencing civil violent war for many years.”
He said the world organisation tried to negotiate peace, “but where human wisdom fails, God has the final answer.
“As you have prophesied, that it shall be a new beginning for the nation, and that we the leaders should overcome our divisions and our differences and come back to develop our youngest nation in the world.
“Hence we, the government and the opposition have come together to implement the revitalised peace agreement, and now the nation is at peace followed by the formation of Revitalised Transitional Government of National Unity (RTGONU), which signifies a new beginning indeed.
“For I am the Lord, I speak, and the word which I speak will come to pass, it will no more be postponed: Ezekiel 12: 25.
“Secondly, based on the above-mentioned reference, I want to take this opportunity to invite you again to the Republic of South Sudan to harvest what you planted. The whole nation of South Sudan is ready to receive you once again.
“Being confident of this proverb, he who began the good work will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ: Philippians 1: 6, so we are inviting you to come and complete the good work which you started”.
